Þórir
Þórir Beinason
Thore Beinason is the faithful foster-brother and lifelong companion of Sigmund Brestisson, hero of the Faroes — the loyal man at the side of the islands' Christian champion. Raised with Sigmund, he shares his fortunes through the long struggle to win and hold the Faroes for King Olaf and the new faith against the cunning pagan Thrond of Gata. He is the steady second, the companion whose loyalty is a fixed point in a saga full of treachery and shifting allegiance. Thore belongs to the corpus's honourable supporting cast — the foster-brother who asks no glory of his own but stands by the hero to the end, sharing his exiles, his battles, and his cause. He is the saga's image of steadfast companionship in a treacherous world: the loyal foster-brother of the Faroes' founding hero, faithful where so many around them are false.
