Steinþórr of Ere

Steinþórr

Steinthor of Ere is the mighty, upright chief whose backing turns Howard the Halt's hopeless cause into a winnable one. When the lamed old Howard, roused at last to avenge his murdered son against the untouchable chief Thorbjörn, needs allies a crippled yeoman could never normally command, it is the powerful and fair-minded Steinthor who lends his weight to the vengeance — the respected chieftain whose support gives the unlikely band the standing to carry the fight through to the Thing and win. Steinthor is the saga's image of the honourable patron — the great man who throws his power behind a wronged weaker man not for gain but because the cause is just, the ally whose backing is the difference between a doomed grievance and real justice. The upright chief who decides that an old man's wrong deserves the weight of a strong man's name.
